LDYC cruise to VCA (Vaal cruising assoc ) - 26 / 27 August 2006

The following cruisers joined us on our cruise this month:
Ed, Alba, Jaco & Martin - Majestic - True sailors - well done!
Trevor & Vicki - Just about - Anchorers of note - thank you!
Rory & Val - Caprice - First time cruisers - welcome!
Ian & Lorraine - Pegasus - First time cruisers - welcome!
John & Christine - Asha - Our senior cruisers - thanks for support!
Andrew & crew - Mugwagwa - Pennant Nine visitors - welcome!
Derek - Freewheeler - Sailing solo - keep at it!
Faan, Eddie & Zane - Heimlich manoevre - Greatest pub supporters!
Dave & son - Cheers - Late arrivers & early leavers - Cheers!
Simon, Sheryl & Spencer - Ssandscat - First time on the water!

We left moorings @ 10h30 in chilly, strong winds. Being on the catamaran we were moored close to shore & protected by Burger's Breakwater, but the easterly wind was not kind to yachts moored in the bay - ask the Durrants!
Experiencing our new catamaran in that wind was a learning curve as it just went faster & faster. After realising that the rubber duck behind us was submarining we tried to slow down (less sail, slower yacht ) - next time the duck travels on deck!
When we arrived at the leeward side of the island we met up with cruisers from Pennant Nine and dropped anchor. We were soon joined by the rest of the LDYC cruisers (+- 7 yachts ) for a raft up lunch.
After lunch we motored into VCA bay, picked up moorings and retired to the pub for complimentary drinks - thanks VCA!
Braai fires were provided, competitive pool games, good pub support, warm night's sleep & a great breakfast followed sequentially.
We look forward to VCA's visit to us in September - time to reciprocate!
We thank everyone who joined this cruise - see you on the Summer cruise - 28 & 29 October - venue to be announced.

Best wishes,
Simon & Sheryl Fisher.
